Dr Karen Law, Head of Innovation, Health Tech Enterprise
Karen is an experienced business development professional having over 15 years’ experience in innovation development and commercialisation having led the development and commercialisation of innovations developed by research scientists and clinicians. She has negotiated numerous licensing agreements for a diverse range of technologies including therapeutics and devices.. Her career encompasses roles within the public sector and within the business development and strategy team of a UK based biotech company working in the gene therapy field. Karen holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry and a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Manchester.
Lucy Omeyer, Senior Grant Funding Consultant, Ryan Innovation Funding
Lucy is a Senior Grants Consultant with a strong track record of securing significant non-dilutive funding for businesses and researchers. Since January 2023, Lucy has enabled clients to win over £4.7 million in grants, achieving a 33% success rate across competitive Innovate UK programs. Earlier, as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Exeter, Lucy significantly contributed to the development of a £1.5 million research grant focused on marine plastic pollution. Lucy excels at guiding clients through the funding landscape, developing compelling proposals, and managing stakeholder expectations to drive successful funding outcomes.
Michael Lee, Strategic Funding Expert, Ryan Innovation Funding
Michael is a Strategic Funding Expert at Ryan, leading on quality in the Exeter office. Since November 2020, Michael has secured £19 million in funding for ambitious start-ups and scale-ups from UK platforms. An experienced Grants Consultant for academic and for-profit organizations across Europe and Asia, Michael supports innovation in diverse sectors including Digital Health, Fin-Tech, Clean-Tech, Agri-Tech, and Advanced Manufacturing. Skilled in management and R&D, and excelling at enabling clients to access crucial financial resources.
